* I am currently accepting new doctoral students to work with. If you're interested in researching popular cultural media through the lens of information science, please contact me via email.
I grew up in South Korea. After finishing my bachelor's in English Literature, Library and Information Science, and Art History and master's in Library and Information Science at Ewha Womans University, I went to Seattle and studied at the University of Washington, Information School for a doctorate degree.
As being strongly rooted in library and information science, I have been happily exposed to and educated in arts and communication, which led me to seek more interdisciplinary research.
As an amateur artist, I love anything that is related to media and arts, and it naturally became one of my main research interests.
My research objective is to provide better access for multimedia information users. It includes conducting user studies utilizing information needs and behavior theories and media theories, developing organizational schema, and improving current reference and recommendation services.
I use mixed methods for my research, which includes content analysis, large-scale surveys, diary studies, interviews, user experiments, facet analysis, and more.
